Mi Hermana.
When we were in elementary school they told my parents they were worried I wouldn’t make any friends because I spent every recess in the library looking for my sister, who spent every recess in the library, reading. I made friends and my sister is now a children’s librarian, so I guess things do work out sometimes.
Today is her birthday and in the next few days are the birthdays of her son and daughter. They share a week. Three of the most spectacular humans I have ever been fortunate enough to meet, let alone share some bits of genetic code with. I have always looked up to my sister, and motherhood is no exception. I hope one day I am able to have children of my own, and I know that if I am even half the mother she is, I will be doing alright.
My sister has always been my closest confidant and the one person I can turn to for absolutely anything. As kids we used to fight like cats and dogs, but at the end of the day, tucked into our bunk-beds, we would whisper for hours - telling stories, sharing secrets, giggling.
Happiest of Birthdays Bean! I am the luckiest little sister in all the land. I love & miss you mucho mucho.
